PERFORM AT YOUR HIGHEST POTENTIAL

A Mountain Based Approach to Training

As mountain athletes we love to be outside, but sometimes we need to supplement the big days in the mountains with consistent strength training to address muscular imbalances, mobility, and cardiovascular fitness endurance required for those big days in the mountains. Billy Goat Training offers a customized approach to your individual goals, schedule, and high elevation mountain trips.

Harness your inner mountain goat

Why train?

It's hard to get results and to improve without consistency and guidance. Billy Goat offers evidence based methods to improve performance without getting injured in the process.

Who are our programs for?

For climbers, skiers, ultra runners, and mountain enthusiasts! For people signed up for a mountaineering expedition with a guide service, or not. For any type of athlete coming back from an injury or discharged from physical therapy. For someone who would like to learn, to improve, and to try something new for an upcoming goal or trip.

Lynette Talbott, PTA, CPT

Lynette specializes in sports performance, orthopedic injuries, and endurance event training. Her passion for sports rehabilitation and athletics began in high school as a competitive swimmer and water polo player and followed into her time as a mountain guide in the Sierra Nevada. She worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant at the Tahoe Forest Hospital prior to launching Billy Goat Swift. She helps those who are interested in improving their health and fitness, prepare and train for local and international expeditions with Alpenglow Expeditions.

For the past 12 years she has trained for triathlons, including completing an Ironman in 2023. She looks forward to more cross country skiing events, cycling events and backcountry ski trips as a balance while being a mom, friend, wife, and climbing partner.

Coaching Philosophy

As a coach, Lynette believes that health and wellness are imperative to performance. Establishing routines, objective measures for performance, and good communication are the foundation of training. She uses her clinical experience of injuries toward performance and a holistic approach. When a recreational athlete chooses to take the steps to improvement, they usually don’t have the benefits of controlled factors the way professional athletes do. We don’t live in a vacuum; all stressors, lifestyle, and balance contribute to an athlete’s success. Lynette believes in listening and adjusting a training program to be customized to the person and their goals.

What does your training look like next?

  • I followed Lynette's plan, went to the gym like never before, hiked locally with a pack, and climbed four peaks (11,000, 12,000, and two 14ers) in the six months prior to the trek.

John (Spring 2024 Everest Base Camp)

  • Thank you SO much for the plan, your guidance and feedback, and our monthly monitoring calls. They all combined with an AMAZING Alpenglow Team to help me climb successfully to the top and back down!

    JC (Everest Summit Climb, 2024)

  • Physically and mentally, you brought me to a point that I am very proud of. It was your guidance and mentorship (and excellent navigation) that turned me into a climber.

    Susan (Peru 2024)
